St. Edward the Confessor Counseling Program Professional Disclosure Statement
St. Edward the Confessor School offers the services of one part-time counselor to assist students and families. The counselor helps to identify, assess and hopefully resolve spiritual, social, emotional, behavioral, and academic difficulties that interfere with attendance, achievement and adjustment in school. All information shared by students, parents and teachers is kept confidential, except in certain situations in which there is an ethical and/or legal responsibility to limit confidentiality. These would include if the child reveals information about harm or possible harm to him/herself or another person or if the child reveals information about child abuse. The school counselor will act at all times in a professional manner that is consistent with the legal and ethical standards that all school counselors uphold.
Counseling services at St. Edward include:
Individual sessions to address personal, social and academic issues related to school
Small group sessions to address conflict resolution
Classroom lessons related to positive personal growth and development
Parent and teacher consultations to address personal, academic and social issues pertaining to school
Referral assistance to other services and programs in the community
Provide resources for parents, students and teachers
Serve as the liaison with other mental health professionals and agencies
Coordinate evaluations for possible student exceptionalities
