The Middle School component at St. Edward is comprised of grades 5th through 7th . The students have six (6) academic classes of Religion, Reading/Spelling, Math, English, Science, and Social Studies for 50 minutes each day. In addition to the academics, the extracurricular classes of Art, Physical Education, Spanish, Technology, and Music meet one day each week for 50 minutes.
Since Middle School students have access to their own devices while they are at school, each of our teachers incorporates a healthy dose of technology within his or her curriculum.
The middle school teachers at St. Edward have experience working with this interesting age group. They offer a gentle transition into middle school for our fifth graders and work towards independence and self responsibility in 7th grade, helping the students transition easier into high school.
In addition to a rigorous academic and extracurricular course of study, Middle School offers opportunities for group work, self-expression, and the development of critical-thinking skills; for example, our interdisciplinary weeks (40s, 50s, & 60's rotating annually), International Food Fest (6th), & Colonial Day (7th).
Another example of a fun learning experience we offer our Middle School students is our Decade Week. Each year for one week, the students study the decade of the 40s, 50s, or 60s, with every subject focusing on this time period.
Outside the classroom, Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in St. Edward's many sports, clubs, and activities.
Students completing Middle School at St. Edward are very well prepared for high school. Each year we are pleased to have nearly 100% acceptance of our students into the high school of their choice.
