We provide a nurturing and stimulating environment in the primary grades, while also ensuring a solid academic foundation for the students’ future. The teachers are aware of the developmental stages the students are going through in these grades, and are dedicated to helping the children to grow and to succeed. The classroom curriculum in the primary grades incorporates different learning strategies, such as hands on activities, whole class instruction using Smart Boards or projectors, small group learning, teacher directed lessons, and independent learning. The students benefit from the 1:1 use of Google devices in all classrooms.
The Academic courses include the following: Religion, Reading, English, Spelling, Phonics (1-3), and Math. Social Studies and Science begin in 3rd Grade (they are studied but not graded in 1st & 2nd). Enrichment classes are taught twice per week; and include: Art, P.E., Spanish, Computer, and Music.
The primary grades at St. Edward, like all the grades, strive to provide the best Catholic education possible, and would welcome your child into our program and help him/her attain that education.
